AllenHopkins.org — Innisfree

Innisfree, a four-piece band playing Celtic instrumental music (with the occasional vocal) has performed in Rochester for more than two decades. I'm the newest member, and I joined in 1991! Our repertoire includes dozens of jigs, reels, waltzes, polkas and slow airs, from Ireland, Scotland, French Canada and America. Over the band's long career, Innisfree has played with symphony orchestras, opened for Irish musicians like Tommy Makem, and graced festival stages, St. Pat's parties, and private get-togethers.

Current members of Innisfree are Mark Deprez, virtuoso on mandolin and banjo-mandolin; Kathy Cappon, who plays button accordion, doubles on 12-string rhythm guitar, and adds the haunting sounds of her antique harp-zither; Barbara Jablonski, a strong multi-instrumentalist who adds Appalachian and hammered dulcimers as well as guitar, and myself on mandola, octave mandolin, mandocello and English concertina. Innisfree is always in demand around St. Patrick's Day, and whenever good foot-tapping Celtic tunes are wanted. In addition, we have a special holiday program that we've performed for over a dozen years at the Candlelight On the Common celebration at Northfield Common in Pittsford.
